Fortis (AG) originally hired me to help them with their migration from Windows NT and MTS to Windows 2000 and COM+. Several projects followed, on which I designed frameworks for WinForm clients (.NET 1.1), WebForm clients (.NET 2.0), instrumentation services and business services. For the client frameworks I designed a workflow engine, which is an implementation of the MVC pattern. For the business framework we developed a Contract-First tool, which generates wsdl. Using software factories, we then generated code for our web services from this wsdl. On this project I was the DevLead. When Fortis IT Benelux was merged beginning 2007, I was asked to become the .NET Domain Architect for Fortis Benelux. My main responsibility in this role, was to provide strategic advice around the positioning of .NET technologies. I combined this role with the role of Solution Architect on the FFFn project. The FFFn (Fortis Framework Foundation for .NET) project delivered a version 1.0 of a consolidated .NET framework for Fortis Benelux on May, 1st 2008. FFFn is built on top of .NET 3.5 and makes us of technologies like WCF, WF and LINQ-to-SQL. My team consisted out of Dutch and Belgian team members. For the daily project organization, I used SCRUM as project methodology and VS.NET Team System 2008 for development, testing, build management and work item tracking.
